The art of tea

Introduction to the sensory practice of tea

Sensitive Introduction to the Art of Tea invites an embodied exploration of gesture, material, and presence.

This is not a technical training, but a living experience, where learning happens through the body, through the senses, and through attention.

Across five guided gatherings, participants discover how tea becomes a language: an art of connection, beauty, and presence.

1. The Gesture – The Body as First Master
Before thought, there is movement.
To hold, to pour, to observe, to begin again.
When the gesture becomes fluid, it carries presence effortlessly.
Objective: To approach the gestures of tea as a form of embodied writing, precise, fluid, and conscious.

2. The Material – A Dialogue with the Leaf
To observe, to touch, to feel the living material.
Each tea speaks through its texture, its warmth, its memory.
To learn how to adjust the hand, the timing, the water, to listen to what the leaf reveals.
Objective: To explore the living materiality of tea and discover how the hand attunes itself to the leaf, to heat, and to time.

3. Awareness – Tasting Presence
To taste with awareness is to be fully there.
To welcome what unfolds in the mouth, in the body, in the senses, and also in what surrounds us: the light, the sounds, the textures, the presence of others.
To allow the experience to reveal itself.
Objective: To cultivate refined attention to what unfolds during tasting: flavor, texture, sensations, and atmosphere.

4. Transmission – Offering and Telling
When the gesture becomes natural, it can be offered.
To offer is to transmit an intention: to create connection, to share an emotion, to tell the story of tea.
To express what one feels, to give words to the gesture, to the taste, to what tea awakens, and also to recount its story: its terroir, its geography, the hands that shaped it, the landscapes it still carries.

Each cup becomes a thread between the visible and the invisible, between those who cultivate, prepare, and share.
Tea becomes living speech and memory of the world, a way of linking people and places through the beauty of gesture and the precision of presence. Tea becomes living speech, a narrative of the senses.

Objective: To learn how to offer tea with intention, to express what it awakens, and to tell its story, from gesture to leaf, from soil to cup.

5. Emergence – When Tea Takes Form Through You
At this stage, practice becomes creation.
Everything that has been learned, observed, and felt begins to take shape.
Tea is no longer reproduced, it is reimagined through each person’s gesture, sensitivity, and presence.

Each participant is invited to give birth to their own experience of tea: to imagine, prepare, and offer a unique moment, a personal way of expressing what tea has transformed within them.

This is not a presentation, but a bringing into the world: an intimate bond between oneself, tea, and the living.

Objective: To allow a free expression of tea to emerge from lived experience, and to celebrate the completion of the journey through a shared, embodied creation.**

An experience at the crossroads of gesture, taste, and presence

This journey is for those who wish to experience tea differently, not as a codified ritual, nor as a mental exercise, but as an art of living, a path of sensitivity, beauty and attention.
